Science vs

The Trials of Apollo

Greek mythology says the god Apollo was born in the island of Delos because it wasn’t “rooted” to the earth and that was the only place at which his pregnant mother was allowed to give birth.

In real life, “floating islands” occur naturally in lakes, marshes, and wetlands, made out of aquatic plants, mud, and peat. Their size can reach several hectares, and depending on their stability, they can be used for agriculture or conservation.

Delos is not a floating island. Well, at least not anymore. 😉
