How Can I Help You Today?
What it is: I guide you through the science your scene or plot needs, in line with what your audience will expect. I won't write your scenes for you, but I'll advise on how to present the science so readers can follow it, and suggest changes if your original plan doesn't work. I can also do the research for you.
How it works: One-on-one voice-only meetings (Skype, Zoom, or your choice) up to twice a week, 1–2 hours each. There's no fixed number of meetings; it depends on your project. For already-written work there's a first read-through fee.
Narrative fiction only. No journalistic, academic or workplace documents, or schoolwork.
What it is: Almost like a proofread, but specifically for the STEM-related aspects of your manuscript. You make the corrections; I point out errors and inconsistencies.
How it works: I read with a critical eye and mark science errors using Track Changes in Microsoft Word, with notes explaining why and quick suggestions. Best for manuscripts that have had at least some editing. If you need more help afterward, you can upgrade to a consultation and the read-through fee is waived.
Narrative fiction only.
What it is: Reach a new market, or get certified translations for official proceedings. I'm a native Latin American Spanish speaker, fluent in English, and certified by CTP in the English–Spanish pair.
How it works: Only finished, edited and proofread texts. You give me a word count, we agree a completion time, then you send the full document. Novels can take weeks or months. The result is a first draft in the target language and should be edited and proofread by someone else before publication.
Non-narrative documents are handled case by case. I don't translate technical legal or healthcare documents, or STEM fields outside my knowledge.
What it is: A big-picture look at structure, pacing, characters, worldbuilding, voice, dialogue, tension and plot holes. Revisions afterward are usually heavy, but can elevate your idea to its full potential.
How it works: Send a Word document. I return a PDF feedback report (usually 10–25 pages) with a chapter-by-chapter breakdown and suggestions, plus your manuscript with minimal teaching-example comments (no line-level editing).
What it is: The final polish: a fresh pair of eyes to catch typos, missing articles, agreement errors and other small mistakes before publication.
How it works: I correct small errors and comment on anything unclear, using Track Changes in Word. Meant as the very last editing step, not for fixing character, plot or style issues.
I aim for a 95% minimum error catch rate, but no proofreader catches everything. Two rounds, ideally from different proofreaders, is recommended. Non-narrative documents are handled case by case, without science revisions.
What it is: Early, honest reader feedback on what worked and what didn't, with the reliability and confidentiality that free beta readers can't always guarantee.
How it works: Send your manuscript (a PDF is fine). I return a PDF feedback report (usually 2–5 pages) on readability, concept, worldbuilding, plot, characters, dialogue and more, with positives, negatives and suggested next steps. No comments are made on the document itself.
